Harriet Hetzel, MED CCC-SLP

Harriet, aka Shug, is a seasoned speech language pathologist who joins Coastal with over 35 years of experience. She graduated in the stone ages with a degree in speech language pathology and has loved every day in her career. 

Her specialty areas include expressive-receptive language disorders, articulation deficits, autism spectrum disorders, voice and fluency disorders, and pragmatic language skills. Her favorite part of her career has been building relationships with families and her patients. Harriet has worked in the private sector, public schools and she is also a part-time adjunct professor at the College of Charleston where she enjoys teaching future teachers on the topics of communication disorders. 

Harriet is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and is an ACE Award recipient. She is a widow, with 3 grown children and 2 grands.
