Katie Whalen
M.Ed., CCC-SLP Speech Language Pathologist

Katie Whalen was born in San Diego, California and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology. She officially became a “double hoo” after completing her Master’s in 2023.

Katie has been working for an outpatient pediatric hospital in Virginia Beach for the last 2 ½ years. She brings clinical experiences with early language development, articulation, AAC, and literacy. She has training in the Wilson Reading program, which uses the Orton-Gillingham approach (the gold standard for children with Dyslexia). Her goal is to increase a child’s functional communication, reading, and writing skills across their activities of daily living.

Katie is a dog mom to a golden retriever named Palmer. When she is not in the office you will see them on walks, at the beach, or getting coffee/pup cup around town.
