Laura Nye, M.A. CCC-SLP
Laura earned her graduate and undergraduate degrees in speech-language pathology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI (it’s a real place!). Although she minored in gerontology, Laura absolutely loves working with the pediatric population at Coastal.
Laura has experience working with children and their families who are affected by autism, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), articulation/phonological disorders, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, expressive and receptive language disorders, traumatic brain injury, social-pragmatic communication disorders, executive functioning difficulties, and genetic disorders. She has particular interest in childhood apraxia of speech, traumatic brain injury, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). Laura is trained in PROMPT and DTTC. She is also the only LAMP Certified Professional (Language Acquisition through Motor Planning) in the tricounty area! Laura has worked extensively with patients and has trained families in the use of high-tech speech generating devices, including those with eye-gaze technology.
Outside of Coastal, Laura can be found cooking, traveling, camping, doing yoga, and eating at all the delicious restaurants in Charleston.
